Did you miss the live update?

If you missed the live on Wednesday (or maybe were overwhelmed by it), I promised to give you a list of the updates so that you could quickly recap without having to watch it all. We went on a Gather 'Round school field trip yesterday so I am a bit delayed but wanted to get this out to you so there is no confusion. Let's get right into it.

Most Important: We have opened a US warehouse and are now shipping from Georgia. This means cheaper shipping (in many cases with media mail that is down to $8) AND faster shipping. Go and see for yourself . . . the difference is shocking. As we find paper suppliers and local contacts, there may be some variations to our paper while we work at finding a comparable. Additionally, we are moving to binding all our books in black on the left in order to offer consistency and also be easier on our machines as the switching back and forth is hard on them. More than Words is available again and merch is coming soon. To give us time to get our feet under us, we are pulling some of our extra things like flashcards and expansion packs off our site as we set up cutters and all that. They will be available again, some with a new and improved look as we assess what makes sense from a production standpoint.

What about Canada? This was the natural next question. Our Canadian orders are unfortunately unable to sustain a warehouse. We sometimes only get a few Canadian orders in a day and these are relatively unpredictable. From a business standpoint, we can't possibly galvanize staff and services for the small amount that we get, especially where we are at in Northern Canada. Because of this, we are regretfully going to have to close our warehouse in Fort St. John. That would mean that from November and on, you would be ordering from the US site, which is set at the current exchange rate (I was giving a better exchange before so the prices will be higher), with higher shipping, longer shipping timeframes, and potentially run into brokerage fees for larger orders. We recognize that this has a huge impact on our Canadian market and we are actively looking into a number of more realistic solutions including possibly finding an alternative closer to a main hub in Edmonton, wholesaling, etc. In the meantime, we are offering a coupon code for 10% off print for October to our Canadians to give you an opportunity to stock up and our staff have agreed to stay on for the month of October to give us time to figure out a plan. We will update you more in the coming weeks. Coupon code: Canada10

North American Birds 2: This will be coming but we are delaying for a few more pressing launches that we need to get out first. This unit is complete and we can't wait to get it in your hands: complete with seatwork, flashcards, and more. Sample coming in the next few weeks.

An Old Fashioned Christmas: We are releasing a brand new Christmas unit! It will be only 8 lessons long and has 3 levels (like James) instead of our other units. It is literature based and you can either purchase the books from us or grab them from the library (or possibly your own shelf). This unit is special, slower paced, and focused on rediscovering the simple things that make the holiday season special. We will be launching that in the next week or so and hope to get a sample out to you asap.

US Elections 2024: We are releasing a 2-day mini unit for US Elections 2024. It will not be evergreen (meaning that it won't be able to be used again as the content is too specific). I am basically making a very poor business decision to make it specifically tailored to this election. As I prayed about it, I feel like parents need a resource to explain this historic event, making it useful no matter where you live if you are watching to see what happens. That will be coming by the end of the month and will likely be digital only at a super reduced price so that you can grab it and print and be ready to go for election week.

Math Beta Testers: We announced beta testers for our new math program will be going live on Tuesday. We're looking at a discounted rate $10 per student, which will give you a full month of math in print format—giving you an opportunity to help us test this out. It will be subscription based and every 8 weeks you will get to try out a new unit in your level of choice (or change the levels). Our first unit is Number Sense. 8 weeks later you will get a notice that Addition is ready and a link to the placement test. Then Subtraction, and so forth. I go into a lot of depth about what the math is and will be releasing some videos in the next week to help break it down, so keep checking back.

*Math beta testing will be a subscription signup available for 2 weeks only (October 8-22). After that point it will be removed from our site and we will be shipping out the first math unit the week of October 21. Those who signed up will be notified 6 weeks later that their next shipment is coming up (and get a link to the new placement test). They can cancel at anytime but no one new can join. Please note, if you do decide to cancel, you will not be able to rejoin as the product will not be available. The rest of the general public will get the units about 2 months after they are released at a bit of a higher price, giving us a chance to test out the math and make revisions to create the best possible product.

I think those are the main things. I also mentioned for locals that we are hoping to do a gathering at the end of October to worship together and just see what God wants to do. We hope to do these every two weeks, so if you live within driving distance, stay tuned for more info.

I hope that this was succinct and clear and I can't wait to see where God continues to move in the months to come.

With great expectation,

Rebecca Spooner

I am super excited about our first literature-based Christmas unit. This unit focuses on the "ingredients" of what made Christmas so special long ago. Throughout the 8 lessons, you will be encouraged to slow down, peel back the layers of consumerism and obligation, and discover that peace, joy, and love are available if we will choose to see through the lens of thankfulness. If you have been missing the nostalgia of Christmas, turn with us through the pages of literature from a time gone by...

Sorry guys, we had a glitch with our shipping profiles and a number of people encountered issues signing up for beta testing today because of it. That issue has since been resolved and you should be able to sign up now. Take 2 . . . For reals this time . . .

We are so excited to be launching our Modular Math K-8 curriculum for beta tester signups for a limited time only! Being a beta tester comes with some serious perks. Not only do you get $5 off per unit/child, but you also get the units 3 months earlier than the general public. All we ask in return is that you join our exclusive Beta Tester group on the app (still in progress, but you can request to join as soon as you purchase), fill out our feedback form after each unit, and share pics and...
